PORTMAN TO PARTICIPATE IN 2010 VENICE BIENNALE OF ARCHITECTURE
One of Seven Firms Chosen to Represent the United States
ATLANTA, GA – May 14, 2010 - John Portman & Associates, Inc. (PORTMAN) is pleased to announce our participation in the exhibition Workshopping:
An American Model of Architectural Practice to be presented in the American Pavilion at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition as a part of La Biennale di Venezia.
The exhibition, co-curated by Michael Rooks, Wieland Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the
High Museum of Art Atlanta
and Jonathan D. Solomon, founding editor of 306090 Books and Acting Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong, is being designed
by native Atlanta artist, Danielle Roney, and presents the architect as a force for change. PORTMAN’S portion will focus on Peachtree Center as an example of
a successful, privately initiated urban regeneration project.
The exhibition will be on display from August 29th until November 21st in Venice, Italy. The U. S. Pavilion is presented by the Cultural Programs Division of
the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. We are very pleased to be joining our fellow exhibitors in representing our country and our profession
at such a prestigious event
