GROUNDBREAKING MIXED-USE COMPLEX IN BEIJING NEARING COMPLETION
The PORTMAN-designed Beijing Yintai Centre Soon to Light Up City Skyline

ATLANTA, GA – December 2007 - John Portman & Associates, Inc. (PORTMAN) is pleased to announce progress on Beijing Yintai Centre, a 3.77 million square foot (350,000 sm) mixed-use complex in Beijing, China, owned by the China Yin Tai Holding Co., Ltd. This hallmark development is on a 340,452 square foot (31,629 sm) site in the heart of the Beijing Central Business District on Chang’an Avenue. The project is a comprehensive mixed-use design consisting of two 45-story, 791,145 square foot (73,500 sm) office towers divided vertically with sky lobbies; and a 63-story, 1.28 million square foot (118,519 sm) residential tower, featuring a five-star Park Hyatt hotel with 237 guest rooms, as well as 180 luxury serviced apartments branded as Park Hyatt Penthouses, and 48 residential serviced apartments. This center tower rises 820 feet (250 m) into the sky, terminating with a ‘glass lantern’ top that contains the hotel public areas, lobby, restaurant and bar-lounge.

At the base, a large podium connects the three towers, providing ballrooms and meeting space. Additionally, guests will be able to experience a variety of unique shopping, dining and entertainment options in Park Life, a dynamic lifestyle destination. The lushly landscaped roof of the podium expands the gardens at street level to form a multi-level urban park for gatherings and a pavilion for special occasions. The extensive use of water features is unique to the site, separating it from the congestion of the roadways. Motor access to the site is via a large monumental space under the podium that is gives each tower its own grand sense of entry. This complex will enhance the Beijing skyline, serve as a retreat from the bustling surroundings, and enhance the lifestyle of people working and living in Beijing.

As the Beijing Yintai Centre rises, the buzz about it also grows. Recently, an article in China Daily by Lu Haoting previewed the project and profiled the owner, Mr. Shen Guojun. The project will open in time for the 2008 Olympic Games.
