MIXED-USE COMPLEX IN BEIJING OPENS WITH GREAT FANFARE
The PORTMAN-designed Beijing Yintai Centre features one of the skyline's tallest towers
Atlanta, GA (October 20, 2008) John Portman & Associates, Inc. (PORTMAN) is pleased to announce the official
Grand Opening of Beijing Yintai Centre, a 3.77 million square foot (350,000 sm) mixed-use complex in Beijing,
China, owned by the China Yintai Holdings Co., Ltd. The opening was celebrated on Saturday, October 18th with
a festive ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including many of China’s most note-worthy celebrities.
Beijing Yintai Centre is a hallmark development on a 340,452 square foot (31,629 sm) site in the heart of the Beijing Central Business District along Chang’an Avenue. The project is a comprehensive mixed-use design consisting of two 45-story, 791,145 square foot (73,500 sm) office towers divided vertically with sky lobbies; and a 63-story, 1.28 million square foot (118,519 sm) mixed-use tower, featuring a five-star Park Hyatt hotel with 237 guest rooms, 216 contemporary luxury serviced apartments branded as Park Hyatt Residences, and 21 units of tailor-made exclusive apartments branded as Park Hyatt Penthouses. This center tower rises 820 feet (250 m) into the sky, terminating with a glass and stone “lantern” top that contains the hotel public areas, lobby, restaurant and lounge. The “lantern” offers stunning 360° views of Beijing and serves as a landmark on the city skyline.
At the base, a large podium connects the three towers, providing ballrooms, meeting space, and a variety of unique shopping, dining and entertainment options in Park Life, a dynamic lifestyle destination. An expansive rooftop entertainment zone will provide a green oasis in the city center. Nestled among lush landscaping, stone-paved terraces, outdoor fireplaces and barbecues and myriad water features will be clusters of pavilions or ‘houses’, featuring a different activity and energy level, from live music to bars. Motor access via a large monumental space under the podium gives each tower its own grand sense of entry. The complex elevates the Beijing skyline, serves as a retreat from the bustling surroundings, and enhances the lifestyle of people working and living in Beijing.
Although Beijing Yintai Centre’s office towers have been operational for awhile, and the residential tower had a soft opening in time for the 2008 Olympic Games, the October 18th gala marked the complex’s official Grand Opening. Beijing Yintai Centre is just one of the landmark projects that PORTMAN has created throughout Asia and around the world.
